Shadow gap beads

Plasterboard shadow gap bead profiles are used where a wall meets a ceiling, skirting board, or door frame. They provide a shadow gap and can replace skirting boards or architraves.

Unlike steel alternatives, PVCu plasterboard shadow gap beads are an unobtrusive component of dry lining finishes that will never rust or stain. The strength and durability inherent in PVCu also help to protect plasterboard and skim plaster from damage in the event of impact.

PVCu plasterboard shadow gap beads help to achieve a perfect finish in walls with internal dry lining and contribute to maintaining the appearance of the finish for the life of the plasterboard.

Shadow gap beads, or architrave beads, are small components which can have a big impact on the internal aesthetics of residential and commercial projects. Made from recycled PVCu, architrave beads give specifiers and contractors peace of mind that they’re using a safe and sustainable product which doesn’t compromise the quality of the end result.

As with all Renderplas bead profiles, plasterboard shadow gap/architrave beads are readily available through our extensive merchant network. Once on site, shadow gaps beads are easy to install and help the plastering or dry lining contractor to deliver a stunning finish for homeowners, building owners and facilities managers.

Shadow gap bead applications

Plasterboard shadow gap (or architrave) beads are designed for use as part of internal dry lining systems. They are a type of skim bead and allow the creation of high-quality internal finishes with contemporary interior design effects.

They can be installed anywhere the wall finish meets a ceiling, skirting board or door frame. They finish the plasterboard and skim, producing an attractive feature where skirting boards and architraves will not be installed.

Correctly specified and installed plasterboard beading, including shadow gap beads, helps to achieve well-defined and reinforced edges in dry lined interior walls. As with all PVCu bead profiles, plasterboard architrave beads provide a good key, allowing installers to achieve the best possible finish.

The strength and durability of Renderplas plasterboard shadow gap beads ensure products don’t present a safety risk if damaged or pulled from a wall. This makes PVCu the preferred material for buildings such as schools, hospitals and prisons.

Available in either an ‘L’ or ‘U’ profile, plasterboard shadow gap beads are offered in white as standard.

PVCu bead colour options

All Renderplas PVCu beads, whether used for external render or internal plaster, are available in white to match the majority of render and plaster specifications.

Both functional and aesthetic, through-coloured renders are widely used by architects to create bright, bold building facades and to support these creations, Renderplas also offer a wide choice of other colours to meet the individual design requirements of all types of building.

Therefore, our external PVCu render beads come in up to nine colours to match the vast majority of renders available from the leading UK manufacturers, including Clayworks, Ecorend, K Rend, Parex and Weber. Renderplas PVC beads need no alternative maintenance and eliminate the time and cost of repainting, which would be required when using steel bead alternatives. Colours are UV stabilised to provide a perfect finish for years to come.

Shadow gap bead performance

Renderplas plasterboard shadow gap beads are a high-performance, maintenance-free solution.
